Merry Christmas!

Cup rings on our coffee table back home are now a thing of the past! Thanks to The Cottage Home blog for the inspiration to create my own coasters for my mom for Christmas. I used My Mind's Eye papers on top 4x4 inch glass tiles to create this shabby chic style. They show off ripped edges and tainted corners to portray life's beautiful imperfections.

Wonder Woman

My life has been a beautiful hectic mess lately. Trying to keep up with school, work, other work, family and friends my priorities aren't in the order they should be. I'm just trying to keep my head above water and be everyone's "Wonder Woman."

Hand Me Downs

Being an older sister growing up, I never had much appreciation for hand me downs. But now that I'm older, I'm obsessed! My mom got a new camera for her birthday and I got her old one. Love it! =)

Mixed Media

So last night I got a sudden burst of random inspiration (which was strange because I just got home from a 13 hour school day, blah!) I was tired, and irritated, and just needed to get my emotions out! I had been wanting to start creating mixed media pieces for awhile now, but have never been in the right mood to get my ideas out. So I just started throwing things together in a monochromatic color scheme, and I loved it! It was a great way to end a long and stressful day.

Ruff! Ruff!

My Mom and I have worked together to create a doggie gift like no other! Since it's a known fact that you can't have a dog without having tons of cute dog toys, it should also be known that those toys will also be strewn throughout the house, no matter what! So with my mother's creative talents, she has designed her own, one of a kind, dog toy baskets! She designs your basket according to your desired color scheme so it will match your home decor. She asked me to combine our skills to create a special gift: a toy basket and a portrait for the furry, four-legged, little one, Jada.

Back to School

School starts Monday... with summer coming to an end I decided to spice up some of my school supplies. I feel like I'm much more motivated to do homework when my notebooks look super cute =) So here is one of the things I've given new life too. Just a cheap planner from Walmart, with a whole new look!

Homemade Love

Homemade gifts come from the heart. For me, drawings are a way I show the ones I love, how much they mean to me. I was flipping through some of my drawings the other day and found one I finished not too long ago. It is a family portrait I drew for my mom for mother's day, this last year. She loved it!

Oh Baby!

It seems that babies are all over the place these days. So many people I know are pregnant or have had kids recently. A couple of days ago I went to a baby shower for a friend at work. She is seriously the most gorgeous, glowing, mom to be I have ever seen! I made her this basket for her baby shower full of diapers and the cutiest outfit! I got the idea from my mom who makes dog toy baskets for friends. I added a pink princess twist and it turned out amazing! This is for you baby Sophie! We all can't wait to meet you! =)

Happy Birthday!

During High School I did junior rodeos with my horse, Matty. When I went to college, I had to sell her. She went to a wonderful family with a home filled with tons of love and an amazing girl, Emily. Today, Emily rides her in rodeos just like I did. They have grown so much together as a team, and win lots of money together =)

Yesterday was Emily's birthday. Her mom asked if I would draw an action shot of the two racing. I was delighted, and Emily loved it! =)

Inspiration

Growing up in the middle of nowhere, I was always listening to country music. Today, I can't get enough of it. I can't draw without it on, and it is where my inspiration for all of my work comes from. Blake Shelton's new song "Ready to Roll," describes this piece perfectly. It's exactly what I'm thinking about when I'm at work. My favorite thing to do when I get home...

"All day I've been thinkin' 'bout, Quittin' early, skippin' out, And haulin' ass to hit the couch, And hang with you at home."

This is a furniture study of a piece I chose for a school project. We had to recreate the piece using different mediums (colored pencil, markers, crayons, pastels etc.). I used old barn wood to make the frame (with a little help from my significant other). It was the perfect finishing touch to tie in my country flare =)
